The out-of-stock problem in eCommerce
Your best-selling product is out of stock. Or an important supplier is running low. Or your competitor just ran out of a key product — an opportunity you can seize if you know about itin time.
Manual stock monitoring doesn't work at scale. OmniWatchGuard fully automates this process — checks every 5 to 60 minutes, instant alerts, zero maintenance.
With the Pro or Agency plan, you can monitor many product pages at once and get stock alerts by email, Slack or webhook.Try it free.
What stock monitoring means
OmniWatchGuard detects any change related to availability:
- Product sold out — the text "out of stock", "unavailable", "sold out" appears on the page
- Product back in stock — the "add to cart" button reappears or stock becomes positive again
- Limited stock — messages like "only 3 left" or "low stock"
- Product variants — a specific color or size becomes unavailable
- Delivery time changed — the estimated delivery time changes
Practical use cases
Online stores: track your suppliers' stock
If you source from suppliers with variable stock, you can monitor their product pages and react before stock runs out completely. Ideal for high-demand or seasonal products.
Buyers: limited products and launches
For products with limited stock — gaming consoles, limited-edition sneakers, camera gear — automated monitoring gives you a real edge over people checking manually.
Competitive analysis: an opportunity when a competitor is out of stock
When your main competitor runs out of stock on a popular product, it's the ideal moment to boost the visibility of the similar product in your own catalog. OmniWatchGuard notifies you instantly.
How to set up stock monitoring
- Go to the OmniWatchGuard dashboard and create a new monitor
- Enter the product page URL
- Select the monitoring type: Stock / Availability
- Choose the frequency: 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes, depending on the plan
- Set up the notification channel: email, Slack, Discord or webhook, depending on the plan
The whole process takes under 2 minutes. No CSS selectors, no code, no server.
Monitoring works on sites that allow automated access. We respect robots.txt and do not bypass anti-bot protection, so some large retailers cannot be monitored.

Frequently asked questions
Does it also work on sites with dynamic JavaScript (React, Vue)?
Yes, with one important caveat: on the Starter and Pro plans, OmniWatchGuard uses a simple HTTP fetch, which doesn't always see content rendered by React or Vue. Full rendering in a real browser — which correctly detects changes on JavaScript-heavy sites — is available on the Agency plan. See thecomplete guide to monitoring React, Vue and Angular sites.
Can I also monitor product variants (colors, sizes)?
Yes, each variant is a separate page or a URL with different parameters — it can be monitored individually. The Agency plan allows unlimited pages.
What happens if the site changes and the monitor stops working?
OmniWatchGuard automatically detects anomalies and notifies you with a "monitor error" alert. You never silently miss notifications — the system flags any monitoring issue.
